La Doña Cerveceria
Business Description
La Doña Cerveceria is a Latin-influenced craft brewery reflecting the Latin experience in Minnesota and promoting accessibility to the craft beer industry. Their brewery and taproom serves up a collection of unique beers as well as tacos and quesadillas. Aside from great food and drink, La Doña is all about building community – from their weekly salsa dancing lesson and live music on Saturdays to their 3v3 Futbol league!
Before MNimize
- Plastic lined paper food boats for tacos & tortilla chips
- Plastic utensils
- Plastic cups used during peak hours
Sergio Manacero, owner of La Doña Cerveceria, was already considering replacing the disposable plastic lined paper food boats used to serve their tacos and tortilla chips with a reusable option when he met with the MNimize team in May 2022. This opportune timing, paired with the MNimize Rebate, catalyzed Sergio to make the switch.
Plastic Reduction Actions Implemented
La Doña replaced their plastic lined paper food boats with metal trays, taco holders, and reusable baskets. In addition to avoiding an estimated 50,000+ single-use disposables and saving approximately $1,500 annually, this change has also elevated the customer’s dining experience.
Outcomes
- 53,000 Plastic lined food boats avoided annually
- $1,590 Annual Cost Savings
- 1,325 lbs. of waste reduced annually
“Switching to metal and reusable plastic trays has allowed us to cut costs on wasteful products that fill our trash. We are already seeing the pros of having made this switch!”
-Sergio Manancero, Owner
